Corfe Castle & Swanage Railway Day Discovery

This half-day walk will take you along the backbone of the Isle of Purbeck giving you incredible views of Dorset. Visit the ancient ruins of Corfe Castle and experience the Swanage Railway.

Meet your guide at Swanage Pier. Your guide will take you on a memorable and exciting hike through some of Dorset’s most beautiful scenery. Along the way, you will experience the rugged Jurassic coastline, the unspoilt Dorset views, the incredible ruins of Corfe Castle and ride in a full-size steam train. You can also stop at a local pub in Corfe Castle if you want. The hike will take around 5 hours, including rests and time to take in the breath-taking scenery. This does not include time at Corfe Castle or the train journey home.

We aim to be at Corfe Castle by 2 pm. Here you will have time to visit Corfe Castle and if your quick, be able to grab a drink in a local pub. Your guide will be leaving Corfe Castle at 4 pm via the Swanage Railway.

No need to rush though, you still have a couple of options:

Option 1

Leave with your guide on the next available train from the Swanage Railway at 4 pm and arrive back in Swanage 25 minutes after departure. Between 4:30-5 pm. (Tickets included in the price.)

Option 2

Take your tickets from your guide and finish your tour in Corfe Castle. You will be able to spend more time in the village. You will, however, be responsible for your return journey back to Swanage on the Swanage Railway. A timetable of departures will be available for you on the day. (Tickets included in the price.)
