Discover the natural beauty of Val D’Aran and the Pyrenees – Hiking adventure holidays

Surrounded by history and nature, you will spend your days hiking up the Montarto peak to 2833m, cycling between towns, horse riding, beer tasting, cheese tasting and canyoning.

Learn new skills, reconnect with nature, explore hidden local treasures, taste local delicacies and do it all whilst being surrounded by the wonders of the Val D’Aran region.

This is the perfect escape away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Immersed in nature and history.

Tour Itinerary

Below is an example itinerary. Your exact itinerary will be like this and sent to you before your adventure holiday start date.

Day 1 - Arrive in Val d’Aran

Your adventure starts at Barcelona airport! Here you will meet your expedition guides. A transfer will take you from the airport to Vielha, capital of Val d’Aran. It is possible to meet your guides in Vielha also. You will have time to check in to your hotel and have lunch in a restaurant in Vielha before your first adventure. An afternoon of horse riding where you will enjoy the incredible sites of Val d’Aran. Ending the day back at the hotel with a lovely meal and the evening to settle in.

Day 2 - Beret to Sant Joan d’Isil o Borén

Wake up to a fantastic breakfast at your hotel before we transfer to Beret, the starting point of today’s adventure. A bike ride from Beret to Sant Joan d’Isil o Borén. This route is 26km of continuous descent along the Noguera Pallaresa river and takes between 3-3.5 hours. Along the way, you will see the Montgarri abandoned village, Sant Joan d’Isil 12th century Romanesque church and the Noguera Pallaresa Valley. A packed lunch will be had on the route and is supplied by the hotel.

It is then back to the hotel for an afternoon of free time.

Day 3 - Aigüestortes National Park, the jewel of the Catalan Pyrenees

Enjoy another breakfast at the hotel before we set off on our first hike. Starting near the Restanca Hut we will climb Montarto Peak at an incredible 2833m and finish below the Colomers hut, passing by two staffed mountain huts. You will enjoy stunning panoramic views of Val d’Aran and the French Pyrenees.

Lunch will be enjoyed on the journey and there will be time to pop in to the Colomers mountain hut for a well-deserved beer! We will return to the hotel for a well-earned shower and a delicious meal.

Day 4 - Canyoning and remarkable Romanesque Churches

Today you will discover parts of the Pyrenees that most will never see whilst Canyoning down the Bausen Canyon. Do not fear though, it is an ideal place for the
introduction of the sport, and you do not have to do anything you do not want to. During the route, we will find diverse water jumps, slides, and rope rappels.

You can then enjoy a hard-earned lunch in Les.
After lunch, we will take you on a guided visit of the most remarkable Romanesque churches in Val D’Aran. Era Purificación in Bossòst, Santa Maria in Arties and Sant Andreu in Salardú. Afterwards, we will transfer back to Vielha for dinner.

Day 5 - The wildest hike, a View to remember and a spot of beer tasting

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel before we make our way to Artiga de Lin where we will start our hike. We will climb to Còth deth Hòro lake and pass. It is from here that we will enjoy the breath-taking views of the Spanish Pyrenees including the Maladet massif and the Aneto Peak, the highest peak in the Pyrenees at 3404m. If the sun is shining, we can even attempt a quick dip in the mountain lake! This is the wildest hike of the tour!

A packed lunch provided by the hotel will be had en route.
In the afternoon we will head to Bossòst where you can enjoy visiting a local beer producer and indulge in some beer tasting.

Day 6 - Hiking Val de Toran and seeing some unexpected wild animals.

Enjoy another breakfast at the hotel before we set out to Val de Toran, the closest valley to France. This location has not been spoiled by tourism and holiday houses. We
will take a trail, which starts in Canejan and crosses tiny villages such as Porcingles and Saint Joan de Toran. Roughly eight people live there all your round! We will pass by a staffed mountain hut before finishing this circular walk. Lunch will be had en route.
In the afternoon we will take you to the Aran Park, an area where wild animals live. You will get the chance to see grey and arctic wolves, bears, vultures, roe deer, stags, Spanish
Ibex, fallow deer, river otters, marmots, wild sheep, and wood grouse.
The evening will be spent back at the hotel where you can enjoy your last meal and take some time to explore before our departure tomorrow.

Day 7 - Departure

One last breakfast before we depart to the airport and make our way home.
